Sparta Prague was the most successful soccer club in Czech Republic. It is also famous throughout Central Europe for its successful team. This team managed to reach the semifinals of the European Cup in 1992. There is a very interesting myth behind the use of the name “Sparta Prague”. Sparta was an ancient city state of Greece known for its warriors. This spirit of fighting and courage inspired the makers of this club to give it the name “Sparta Prague”. There is an interesting concept behind the use of different colors in the flag of Sparta too.

It consisted of three colors; viz. blue, red and yellow. The blue symbolized the continent of Europe. The red symbolized the royal city of Prague and the yellow signified along with red, the official colors of Prague. Sparta Prague plays in the AXA Arena which is located in Prague itself. It is also known as by the name of Letná Stadium. At one time Sparta Prague was very famous in the nation for its players.
But in the age of globalization where every one gets the best for a price, this has ceased to exist. Previously, the players of the Sparta Prague used to play for the Czech Republic national football team. But now, these players have all been hired by the more expensive foreign leagues. Sparta Prague was set up in 1893.
